Project: Rosewood Hotel Schloss Fuschl

Sissi and Franzl

The castle on Lake Fuschl has been extensively renovated. Originally built as a fortress and later rebuilt several times, it now combines Renaissance and Baroque elements. The castle in Austria's Salzkammergut region became famous as the film set for the ‘Sissi films’.

Our lighting concept preserves the listed character of the building and emphasises its high design standards. Particular attention was paid to achieving a balance between architectural lighting, custom-made special luminaires and lighting integrated into the furniture.

Project: Central Business Tower

52 Floors – CBT Frankfurt

In Frankfurt’s banking district, the Central Business Tower is rising to a height of 205 metres. The building is composed of two volumes connected by a glass joint.

Its base is formed by a Neo-Renaissance bank building – one of the few remaining historicist structures featuring its original banking hall, a rotunda, and a glass dome.

Project: The Home Hotel, Zurich

The Home in Sihlcity, Zurich

New project online! More photos and a short description now available on our website.

Located in a former paper factory on the banks of the Sihl River, the hotel has made its industrial past the focal point of its design. The building’s distinctive columns, once seen as structural obstacles, have been showcased rather than hidden – surrounded by greenery and light, they now serve as architectural highlights.

One of our projects has been published in the Hamburg Chamber of Architects' Yearbook. We are very pleased about that.

“Loft offices instead of logistics - revitalization of an Otto Group warehouse” describes the conversion according to the concept of Akyol Kamps Architekten.

Project: Radisson Blu at Porsche Design Tower Stuttgart

The right setting

We were recently able to do the final fine-tuning.

The hotel in the Porsche Design Tower opened in Stuttgart last year with 168 modern rooms and suites, a conference area, bar and restaurant with a spacious terrace and views of the vineyards.

Project: Radisson Blu Lübeck

Elegance and warmth in the centre of Lübeck

We are pleased to announce: The lobby and foyer areas of the redesigned Radisson Blu Senator Hotel in Lübeck have been completed.

The public areas of the hotel were refurbished over a 4 month period while the hotel remained open. The elegant design is supported by a combination of warm colours and an atmospheric lighting design.

Kiel University of Applied Sciences – new building for Civil Engineering and Architecture degree programmes

An exciting, forward-looking project. We are delighted with the commission! Licht 01 is planning the public areas: Foyer, atrium, lecture theatres, project rooms, arcades, roof garden and outdoor areas.

DFZ Architekten designed a flexible and future-proof building that offers communication-enhancing and adaptable teaching, learning and working environments while also meeting high sustainable quality standards.

Project: Thalia Theater

Revitalisation of the cove lighting in the auditorium of the Thalia Theater

Linear LED lighting technology in a dynamic white design.

We are planning and supervising the re-equipping of the existing coves of light along the wall surfaces of the stalls, the boxes and the middle tier of the auditorium.

Award: Member of the jury 2023

No award at “Der Deutsche Lichtdesign-Preis 2023”?

As Lighting Designer of the Year 2022, our office provides a member of the jury at the German Lighting Design Award for the following year.

Which of course also means that we were not allowed to submit any projects for 2023. So no award for us. Instead, interesting insights into the high-quality projects of our colleagues and enlightening jury work.

Project: Marriott Basel, Switzerland

Basel Marriott Hotel

The recently refurbished Marriott Hotel in Basel is now open and Licht 01 was happy to collaborate with the lighting atmosphere.

The lighting for the reception concentrates on highlighting the back wall of the counters while accentuating the finishes and materials of the architecture. As focal point, a group of decorative luminaires suspended in different heights enrich the space and orientate the visitors into the reception area.

Max Lobé “Confidences”

Max Lobé, born in Duala, Cameroon, in 1986, lives in Geneva as a novelist, poet and cultural activist and is the author of five novels.

Themes that run through his work include queerness, migration and postcoloniality. On December 03, he will be a guest at M.Bassy.

“Three” at the Hauptwache

A new restaurant called "drei" has opened in a historic building in Rendsburg.

The interior designers' idea was to arouse the curiosity of passers-by with glimpses of the interior of the former central guardhouse. The cosy and relaxed atmosphere can already be guessed from the outside and makes you want to meet friends, have a family celebration or a quick lunch.

Nominated, nominated, nominated!

No less than 3 of our projects were selected by the jury of the German Lighting Design Award "Der Deutsche Lichtdesign-Preis 2022".

We are excited to see if our work will stand out next to the excellent projects of the competitors and if we can take the coveted prize back to Hamburg in 2022 in one of the categories!

Current project: Reopening in Berlin

Cocktails at the Atrium Bar

The Radisson Collection Hotel Berlin starts the new year with the opening of the newly renovated Atrium Bar and Reception area. Licht 01 was in charge of enhancing the atmosphere with light.

The large Atrium accomodates the famous AquaDom, one of the largest aquariums in the world, with approximate 16 meter height and house of over 1500 fish of 50 species. From its 9 meter height foundation, emerge a composition metal structures in form of portals which define the space of the Bar without obstructing the view of the aquarium.

LiTG Fachgebiet Lichtarchitektur

The German Lighting Society (LiTG) publishes a guideline on museum lighting under aspects of visual physiology and conservation. Our project makes it onto the cover!

With this publication, the colleagues from Lichtvision and Act-Lux provide a compact overview for planners and museum operators. Very well written and highly recommended.

Project: Light waves in Prague

Reopening Palladium, Prag

"We had in mind an elegant changeable lighting installation for the shopping centre," says Juan F. Rivera, M. Arch. M.A. Lighting Design at Licht 01, "It was important to us that this installation not only creates a wow effect, but also creates targeted atmospheres."

Visitors are now greeted with changing color displays at the two key entrances, from Náměstí Republiky Square and the metro station. The Palladium team is able to program and control the movement and coloring thematically.

Lighting concept, implementation planning and tender documentation for custom made fixtures.

Marketstudios a multidisciplinary design studio was in charge to redesign the entrance area for the advertising agency Kolle Rebbe. In close collaboration we supported with our expertise.

The swiss eMagazine Lichtarchitektur (Luxlumina Verlag) regularly asks trend-setting lighting designers for their opinion.

"... I think that most project participants have come to realise that lighting designers are important, especially when dealing with LED technology, its sensible use and control.

Current project: Moxy Hotels

Lights on – at the Moxy Hamburg City.

The well-known brand Moxy, developed by Marriott, recently opened its first hotel in Hamburg.

"All the different cult districts of the city find their way to Moxy". This can be experienced very well in the hotel lobby by the interior design concept of JOI-Design.

Moin! Das James now open.

We were longing for it! We just started the final set up for the lighting in the hotel Das James.

The urban style hotel with its British charm, located in the Flensburg harbour area Sonwik, directly at the marina with view on the water houses in the Flensburg fjord.

Nominated: German Lighting Design Award #2

Radisson Blu Hotel Frankfurt nominated in the category Hotel/Gastronomy

We are very pleased about the second nomination for the German Lighting Design Award 2020.

The widely visible and striking round building of the Radisson Blu Hotel in Frankfurt Bockenheim was completed in 2005. Now, after 14 years of hospitality, the lobby areas on the ground floor were renovated and a lobby bar was added. We were entrusted with the lighting design!

The Ernst Barlach Haus Hamburg has been nominated for the German Lighting Design Award 2020 in the category Museum.

We are gratified that this extraordinarily challenging project was nominated by the jury, especially because the innovative solutions and technical details are not visible at first glance.

M.Bassy e.V. is a non-profit organization based in Hamburg. Our goal is to promote contemporary African and African-inspired artists and creatives – especially in the areas of design, fashion, and music.

Powalla Forum St. Michaelis Hamburg

We light up the new visitor centre of the St. Michaelis church in Hamburg, The Powalla Forum. In collaboartion with clients, architects, and media designer we currently develop the lighting concept for the new Forum.

The visitor centre is beeing built at the south-west corner of the church's square. The pastorate was constructed in the 1950s and is a protected heritage building. The historic walls and facades will be kept and a modern entrance building will complete the new ensemble.

Palladium Shopping Centre, Prague

Anyone entering the popular shopping center in the future will be greeted by two light sculptures with a total of more than 1,200 glass tubes.

Each of the glass elements is equipped with an RGBW LED module and a special lens technology designed to direct the light along the semi-matt tubes.

Porsche Design Store, Frankfurt a.M.

New store concept from Porsche Design. In Frankfurt the first of the series is opened – we are responsible for the lighting design.

The sophisticated interior design concept by Nest One from Hamburg combines neutral concrete textures with a black ceiling and warm wood materials. Rail systems with headlights accentuate clothes, suitcases, watches and many other products of the exclusive Porsche brand.

News: Opening in Nairobi!

Radisson Blu Nairobi Arboretum

The new Radisson Blu Hotel in Nairobi has recently opened its doors and Licht 01 is proud of join forces with the lighting design for the public areas, the guestrooms and suites.

The contemporary building design by the Singapore based office EZRA Architects, has been constructed in the surroundings of Nairobi’s fascinating forest reserve Arboretum: cradle of more than one hundred species of birds and three hundred species of exotic trees.
